Hiking Adventure at the Deer Creek Preserve
Join NCRLT staff for a private 3-mile hiking tour through the breathtaking beauty of Deer Creek Preserve, our hidden gem. This adventurous journey will lead you deep into the majestic canyon, where the purifying flows of Deer Creek wind through untouched landscapes.
The adventure begins at 8am at the Chico Park & Ride. We will meet there and board a van for the 50-minute drive to the Deer Creek Trailhead, where Deer Creek crosses HWY 32. We will hike the Deer Creek Trail from the trailhead to where the trail crosses K-line road, stopping to take in the view, wildlife, and flowers. We will enjoy a picnic of locally-sourced fare and you'll receive a commemorative group photo with adventure memories (provided after the tour). Our tour concludes roughly 3 miles downstream, where our ride awaits.
The hiking trail is well maintained though there are a few areas that are narrow and may have loose rocks. This is a moderate level hike with little elevation gain. Dress in layers, appropriate footwear (hiking boots/athletic shoes), and bring water.
Included: round-trip transportation from Chico Park & Ride, locally sourced picnic, commemorative photo.
This event is rain or shine. However, extreme weather will cancel and be rescheduled for a future date.
